The East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) and the East and Southern Africa Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Network (ESA SUN CSN) have entered into a landmark partnership aimed at accelerating nutrition and health gains across the region.

The MoU was officially signed at ECSA-HC headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, by ECSA-HC Director General Dr. Ntuli Kapologwe and ESA SUN CSN Chairperson Mr. Edgar Okoth Onyango. This collaboration brings together ECSA-HC’s policy influence and ESA SUN CSN’s grassroots advocacy, comprising over 1,400 civil society organizations across 15 countries.

The partnership focuses on six key areas:

  • Nutrition policy advocacy and accountability

  • Multisectoral coordination of health and nutrition programs

  • Support for implementation of HMC resolutions

  • Civil society engagement in regional platforms

  • Community capacity strengthening

  • Joint resource mobilization and technical assistance

“This partnership solidifies our mutual commitment to aligning evidence, policy, and community voice,” said Dr. Ntuli.

Mr. Onyango added, “Nutrition must be at the center of our development agenda.”

The initiative contributes to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), reinforcing regional and global nutrition targets.
