ECSA-HC Champions Bold Action at Coalition 2025 Annual Meeting on Access to NCD Medicines and Products in Africa

Munyonyo, Uganda – June 26, 2025
The East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) reaffirmed its commitment to universal access to noncommunicable disease (NCD) medicines and products at the Coalition 2025 Annual Meeting on Access to NCD Medicines and Products in Africa, held at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The high-level meeting, convened under the theme “Prepare, Declare and Act: Let’s Make It Happen!”, brought together key stakeholders from across the continent to drive forward efforts in addressing the growing NCD burden through equitable access to life-saving health commodities.

Representing ECSA-HC, Dr. Ntuli A. Kapologwe, Director General, delivered a powerful message on the urgency of regional solidarity and action:

“Access to NCD medicines and products is not a privilege, it is a right. At ECSA-HC, we are committed to turning commitments into action, partnerships into progress, and declarations into life-saving solutions. Now is the time to prepare boldly, declare our shared responsibility, and act decisively. Together, let’s make it happen.”

This call to action aligns with ECSA-HC’s broader strategic objectives to support Member States in strengthening resilient health systems, advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC), and reducing premature mortality from NCDs.

As part of the Coalition, ECSA-HC continues to work alongside governments, civil society, and development partners to implement evidence-based, people-centered approaches that ensure no one is left behind.

The organization’s participation in the Coalition 2025 Annual Meeting reflects its ongoing leadership in championing access to health as a human right and supporting innovative, coordinated responses to health challenges across the region.
